Cheap Family Activities Near Ocean City, MD (Under $50)
A beach week gets expensive fast, and most of it is not the beach. It is parking, it is $14 for a thing the kids finish in four minutes, and it is the slow bleed of a hundred small purchases. Here is what a family of four can actually do near Ocean City without that happening, with real 2026 numbers.
Free, and actually good
- The beach. Fenwick Island's beach is calmer and less crowded than Ocean City's, and parking is far easier.
- Our parking. Free and on site, every day. If you have parked in Ocean City in July you know this is a real line item.
- Ages 3 and under play mini golf free at Viking Golf with a paying adult. Not a discount, free.
- Watching the go-karts. Kids who are too short to drive will stand at the fence for twenty minutes for nothing.
Mini golf: $42 for a family of four
Viking Golf is $13 for adults and $8 for kids under 42 inches. Two adults and two kids is $42. Ages 3 and under are free with a paying adult, so a family with a toddler pays less.
Nineteen holes with hidden trolls and a two-headed dragon set in Danish landscaping. It takes about an hour with kids, and we are open 9am to 11:30pm, so it fits anywhere in your day.

Go-karts: $20 for the family, and here is the trick
Viking Go-Karts is $10 per kart, not per person. That distinction is worth money and most people miss it.
A double kart with a parent driving and a young kid riding is $10 total, not $20. So two double karts, meaning both parents each taking a kid, is $20 for the whole family. That is the cheapest twenty dollars of fun on this stretch of Route 1.
Rules: solo drivers must be 56 inches or taller. Double kart drivers must be 16 or older, and the passenger has to be under 56 inches, because taller riders will not fit. Every kart has a safety seatbelt.

Waterpark: buy the two hour pass
This is the biggest place families overspend, and it is easy to avoid.
| Pass | 2 Hours | Add 2 Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Adults, 42 inches and taller | $30 | +$15 |
| Children under 42 inches | $14 | +$6 |
| Seniors, age 60 and over | $20 | +$10 |
A family of four with two small kids is $88 for 2 hours. Here is the honest advice: start there and do not pre-buy the extension. Two hours is a real waterpark visit and most young kids are done. If they are somehow still going at the end, you add 2 more hours at the window. That is the whole point of pricing it this way.
A real under-$50 day
Not a hypothetical. This is a genuinely good day for a family of four:
| Cost | |
|---|---|
| Beach in the morning | $0 |
| Parking at Fenwick Fun | $0 |
| Viking Golf, 2 adults + 2 kids | $42 |
| Ages 3 and under | $0 |
| Total | $42 |
Add two double karts and you are at $62. Still less than most single attractions cost a family in season.
Where the money actually goes
Being honest about this, since the point of the page is saving you money:
- Food is the real budget. Rent a place with a kitchen. Breakfast and lunch at the house saves more across a week than every activity discount combined.
- Parking in Ocean City adds up. Ours is free. That is 15 minutes of driving to keep the money.
- Start with 2 hours. You can always add 2 more at the window. Almost nobody regrets starting short.
- Do the free stuff first. The beach is free and the kids do not rank it lower than the paid things.

All current prices for every attraction are on our pricing page, and they are the same numbers we put on this page.
The height rules that decide your bill
Two numbers control what a day here costs. Knowing them at home rather than at the window is worth real money.
| Number | What it decides |
|---|---|
| 42 inches | Child pricing at the waterpark and at Viking Golf. Under 42 inches is the child rate. |
| 56 inches | Go-karts. You must be 56 inches or taller to drive alone. A double kart passenger must be under 56 inches. |
A child at 43 inches pays the adult rate at the waterpark. That is $16 more on a 2-hour pass. Measure before you drive over.
Timing is a discount nobody charges for
Coming at 10am when the waterpark opens costs the same as coming at 1pm and gets you significantly more. Our 1pm to 3pm window is the busiest of the day. Same pass, same money, more time actually in the water.
Same logic in the evening. Viking Golf and Viking Go-Karts run to 11:30pm. At 9pm the heat is gone, the lines are shorter, and it costs exactly what it costs at 2pm.
Come in June or September
Honestly, this outweighs every tip on this page. Rentals on this coast drop hard outside of July and August, and the weather in early June and September is still good. September holds August's water temperature with a fraction of the crowd.
If your kids are not school-aged yet, September on the Delaware shore is one of the better deals in family travel and most people never take it.
What we are not going to tell you
That there is a secret coupon. There is not. We do not run a hidden code and we are not going to invent a fake discount to make this page feel more useful.
The savings here are ordinary and real: free parking, buy the shorter pass, use the multi-day if you are coming back, do the free beach, and remember the go-karts are per kart. That is the whole list, and it adds up to a couple of hundred dollars across a week.
